Honda is recalling nearly seven hundred thousand units of its Freed, Fit and City models globally to fix a defect.
The models have a faulty spring that could cause the engine to fail to restart in the worst-case scenario.
So far no accidents have been reported from the defect.
Honda is recalling nearly 168-thousand Freed and Fit cars in Japan, and will cost the company $39 million.
The rest are mainly in Asia, including China.
Honda became Japan's No. 3 automaker in terms of global retail sales after it was overtaken by Nissan earlier this year.
