NTDTV Japanese Music Critic Dazzled by Shen Yun

Shen Yun performed twice at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Nishinomiya, Japan on Wednesday the 17th. Audience member Shigihara Shinichi is a respected music critic and a professor at Kyoto University.

Mr. Shigihara thought the show was dynamic because of the ethnic dance performances.

[Shigihara Shinichi, Music Critic]:
“The momentum is extremely great and broad. Those ethnic dance performances are very impressive this year. Each of the performances is different and refreshing. It seems that I just realize China is a country with many ethnic groups, which is very interesting.”

He appreciated the intricate beauty and uniqueness of Chinese classical dance.

[Shigihara Shinichi, Music Critic]:
“The male and female performers' movements are clearly different. The male dancers' movements are full of masculinity, and the female dancers' movements are full of beauty and gentle charm, which are both the Easterners' beauty. Those dance movements are quite different from Western ballet."

Mr. Shigihara says he can’t wait to see next year’s show, and especially to listen to more music and singing.

"I hope that I could listen to Shen Yun's orchestra performing without any amplifiers. The singers' sounds are very sonorous so I really wish that I could directly listen to their singing again. I'm really looking forward to it."
