Rolls-Royce Signs $1.8 Billion Engine Deal with Air China

Troubled engine-maker Rolls-Royce’s fortunes look to be turning around after bagging its second big order from China this month.

Rolls-Royce will provide engines to power 20 planes from Air China’s Airbus fleet in a deal worth $1.8 billion dollars.

The British company has been hit by safety concerns over its Trent 900 engine, after one exploded mid-flight earlier this month, forcing a Qantas passenger plane to make an emergency landing in Singapore.

The Australian carrier’s superjumbo A380 fleet remains grounded while Rolls Royce works to fix the fault.
